Actually, it wasn't, but Australian releases (The Bee Gees Sing and Play 14 Barry Gibb Songs and Spicks & Specks) obviously didn't count for much. And they (probably briefly) considered changing their name to Rupert's World or something similar.
Hughesy's assessment: Spicks & Specks (the single, I paid absolutely no attention to the album) suggested there was more to this -semi-geeky Brisbane-based trio who turned up regularly on the notionally unhip Bandstand. New York Mining Disaster and To Love Somebody confirmed it, and, greatness beckoned. While the rest is very much a period piece, Every Christian Lion Hearted Man Will Show You and Craise Finton Cook Royal Academy Of Arts remain guilty pleasures nearly fifty years later. Interesting, revealing a depth that I, for one hadn't expected.
