Memphis vocal group (Samuel Jones, Alvin Standard, Kenneth Patterson, George Powell, Jimmy Ellis) later known as The Vel Tones. Entirely different to Louisiana's swamp pop Vel-Tones, who included Tommy McLain and Clint West.They were the first black act signed to Satellite (before it morphed into Stax) and later recorded as The Canes.
