Chicago-born and Detroit-raised gospel and R&B singer Laura Lee was signed with Chess Records and recorded in-house in Chicago before she was sent to cut some tracks at Rick Hall's FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, The moderate hit Dirty Man (#13 R&B) was one of them. Label changes saw her breaking bigger in the seventies with former Motown producers, Holland, Dozier and Holland's Hot Wax label. Subsequently moved into gospel.
