Alabama-born, Detroit-raised singer, songwriter and producer, who co-founded The Falconsthere in 1955. After the group disbanded in 1963 he moved to Memphis and joined Stax Records as a songwriter and producer. He also recorded a string of singles for the label, includingh Knock On Wood in 1966.
