Memphis soul trionot to be confused with similarly named outfits in New York, San Antonio, the U.K. and Jamaica. Mary Hunt, Shirley Thomas and Mildred Pratchett released two singles at Volt in early 1962. Subsequently moved to Nashville and recorded as The Dixiebelles. After the trio split, Mary Hunt and Mildred Pratcher returned to Memphis, added nrew members and recorded as The Charmels, produced by Isaac Hayes. The relative dearth of recorded material suggests they're Obscure, but later activity suggests a tad more significance. File under: Memphis Vocal Groups
