Rants & Reflections

HughesyBeachWAs you’d expect, anyone who’s spent a sizeable chunk of the past forty years listening to rock’n’roll is likely to have some fairly strong views on the importance, relevance and reliability of certain musical artists. They’re probably also going to have some thoughts about broader themes relating to music and the industry that churns it out.

Those matters regularly give me something to ponder as I set out on the morning circuit along the main street, around the redeveloped Front Beach and back again, and when they do the results of those cogitations get tapped out and, eventually, posted here.

And in case you’re wondering, Rant equates to a strong opinion, usually concerning something that has attracted my attention that I don’t quite like, while Reflection usually results from something I’ve noticed or have had pointed out to me.

Anyway, for what they’re worth, here they are....

Rant: Beatles = Lightweights?     Rant: On the Digital Revolution     Rant: The Neil Young Archives

Rant: Art vs Artifice     Rant: Teenage Noise     Rant: Hughesy's Music Classifications     Rant: Consuming Music

Reflection: Australian music from the sixties     Rant: A Trans-Atlantic Question

Reflection: A New Listening Paradigm     Reflection: After The Basement     Reflection: On Keeping Things Going

Reflection: Reviewing a Paradigm
