Fitzroy McLean, son of Tom McLean, had been the Master of an ex-World War II Fairmile, Roylen Star, became the manager of Brampton Island.  

Tom McLean established Roylen Cruises in 1946, operating a fleet of converted Fairmiles out of Mackay Harbour on five-day and one-day island trips.

Stanley Montague, a worker on Brampton Island, developed appendicitis in 1935 and, despite being taken to the Mackay hospital, did not survive the illness. His body was brought back to the island for burial.
