John Drysdale, proprietor of the Pioneer sugar mill, persuaded Alfred Green to move from Townsville to Brandon to provide an engineering facility for the sugar industry (the Delta Ironworks, formerly known as A.J.Green Engineers, Metal Founders and Boilermakers).

Cattle Creek Co-operative sugar mill opens at Finch Hatton.

First cane harvested in the Haughton Valley. 

Post Office directory recorded five hotels, seven stores (including one of the Jack and Newell chain), a post office and a station on the Irvinebank tramway at Stannery Hills.

 1 Mackay Chronicle amalgamated with Mackay Mercury to become Daily Mercury .

20 The Cooke brothers, who held an occupation licence over the Molle Group at the same time, were granted occupation licence 304 on Hayman Island. It is not clear to what use they put the island.
