A hotel was opened in Dimbulah, seven years after the completion of the railwayline to Chillagoe.

Private railway line from Einasleigh to Chillagoe opens.

Canobie was sold in 1908 to A.J. Cotton along with all of its stock: 23,000 head of cattle and 451 horses.

Railway line from Charters Towers to Richmond was extended to Julia Creek.

Tramway built to carry cane from Habana to Pleystowe mill.

First motor car arrives in Mackay, owned by local Doctor Wallis Hoare.

February 

1 Brampton Island again declared open to occupation.

December Chillagoe Shire  proclaimed with an estimated population of 3000, distributed among the mining towns of Almaden, Calcifer, Cardness, Mungana, OK Mine and Zillmanton. The area had previously been in Woothakata (later Mareeba) Shire.
