State primary school opened at Rollingstone.

Land leases in Cannonvale go on sale.

Railway from Atherton to to Tumoulin extended to Ravenshoe.

Primary school was opened at Japoonvale and named Stratvell, in honour of Joseph Stratford from Innisfail, reputedly the first soldier ashore at Gallipoli, and Nurse Edith Cavell.

South Johnstone mill opened as a Government central mill.

1 Joseph Busuttin and his family became Brampton island's first European settlers, taking out a 20 year pastoral holding lease in the  name of Consiglio Busuttin. They raised chinchilla rabbits for their fur, and later horses the Indian army.

Ingham's shire hall destroyed by fire.

July

24 Boyd Lee who also had a lease of Grassy Island where he lived with his family, took over OL350 on Hayman Island. He ran goats on the island but did not live there.
