Aitkenvale Primary School opened.

Cairns-Babinda railway linked to the North Coast line at Innisfail.

Babinda sugar mill aken over by cane farmers and the town's State Hotel transferred to private ownership. 

Open cut coal mining starts in Blair Athol with coal mined for railway locomotives and local consumption. 

Cairns High School opens.

Gillies Highway from Cairns over the range to Atherton opened.

Cardwell railway station on the north coast line to Cairns opens.

The North Coast railway was extended through Cardwell shire, joining Townsville and Cairns.

Scottville State School opens.

Golden Grove dairy factory at Atherton transferred operations to its branch at Malanda.

Primary school open in Giru.

Post Office Directory recorded the George Hotel, a store, a two-teacher school and a post office in Glenella. 

Mount isa Mines established.

Hermit Park State School and Catholic St Joseph school in Norris Street opened. St Joseph's school was moved to Mundingburra in 1936.

The Church of England set up a mission at Orchid Point in Lloyd Bay. This mission was then moved to Bare Hill, south of Cape Direction, which is now known as 'Old Site' (Putchiwuchi in Uutaalnganu).

Methodist Church opened in Gregory Street, Mackay replacing a church destroyed in 1918 Cyclone. Now home to the Salvation Army Thrift Shop.
