Butter factory opens at Golden Grove, just north of Atherton. By 1917 330 farmers were supplying the factory, but as the dairy herds at Malanda and Yungaburra grew dairy processing was increasingly concentrated on Malanda.
Population of the Ayr Shire was 2300 and the township of Ayr was approximately 700.

18 Well known and respected local Doctor George Tyndale Lloyd dies after being thrown from a horse in Brisbane Street. The Lloyd memorial in Queens Park was erected in his honour.
