Herberton Division was excised from Tinaroo Divisional Board.

Anglican church established in Brandon.

Cardwell dugong oil factory was joined by a meat works, but local cattle herds were found to be tick infested. 

Richmond Hill State primary school opened. 

Primary schools opes at North Eton and Forsayth.

Ashburton mill incorporated in the older and smaller Farleigh mill.

Mulgrave Central Mill Co began the construction of a new mill. 

Canobie station homestead was burnt to the ground with only a few books being saved. 

Tinaroo division was subdivided with part of it united with Herberton borough to become Herberton division.

2 First issue of Daily Chronicle in Mackay (became tri-weekly as Mackay Chronicle, 5 August 1895; amalgamated with Mackay Mercury to become Daily Mercury from 1 January 1906).

5 Mackay Daily Chronicle became tri-weekly as Mackay Chronicle.
