Golden Grove dairy factory opens in Cairns. In its first full year of operation the Cairns Harbour Board reported the exports out of Cairns: Sugar 18,659 tons, Copper 7539 tons, Timber 4899 tons, Maize 3763 tons, Lead 4154 tons, Tin 3018 tons, Bananas 2800 tons, Wolfram 1004 tons. Total cargo was 51,888 tons

Town of Charters Towers proclaimed a city. 

A cyclone destroyed or unroofed many buildings in Cooktown, including the Masonic Temple, the Presbyterian and Catholic churches and ten hotels. Many commercial buildings were rebuilt, but houses were abandoned as the population drifted to Cairns. 

Eimeo salt works closed.

Joseph Busuttin and his brother, Consiglio Victor Lawrence (Charles) Busuttin, take up the lease of St Bees and Keswick Islands to the south of Brampton  Island, where they bred chinchilla rabbits and, later, horses and sheep.

The Cloncurry mineral field was connected to Townsville by rail. 

A dedicated bowling green opened in Wood Street, Mackay on site of present Canegrowers building.

12 Joseph Carnell, from Mackay, applied for an occupation licence on Brampton Island. He did nothing with the island and the licence lapsed.
