1919

Cyclone obliterated the area around Mission Beach and Bingil Bay, wiping out the Bicton plantation estate. Some coffee and tea bushes survived in the regrowth and tea cultivars were used for the Nerada plantation in 1960.

Methodist and Presbyterian churches' Thornburgh College for boys opens in Charters Towers. 

The Venus Battery in Charters Towers became a State-owned enterprise. 

Hann Shire and Daintree Shire were amalgamated to form Cook Shire.

Einasleigh Shire renamed Etheridge Shire because mail addressed to Einasleigh Shire was being sent to Einasleigh township instead of the shire offices at Georgetown. The charge of name coincided with the decline of mining and the ascent of pastoralism in the local economy.

Golden Gate post office closed.

Cooktown, Daintree Shire, and Hann Shire were amalgamated to form Cook Shire.

Woothakata Shire offices were moved to Mareeba. The shire was renamed Mareeba in 1947.

Anglican St Mary's school was opened, and the Bush Brothers made Herberton their centre for the region.

Gas works was opened in Virgil Street, Hyde Park.

New double storey shire offices built in Ingham.

Ingham was connected by railway to Townsville.

Anglican Aboriginal mission on Topsy Creek, south of Kowanyama, was moved northwards to Mitchell River.

Mackay Standard resumed publication with assistance from Daily Mercury.

15 Einasleigh Shire was renamed Etheridge Shire.

Mackay Standard ceased publication.

April 

15 Inaugural meeting and creation of the Mackay District Rugby League.

June

The Great Influenza epidemic claims it first Mackay victim, former Mayor James Prout Moule.
