Follow that notion, and it is possible to work up a narrative that runs from the earliest concepts of a land down under through to the twenty-first century.
And so, at the heart of About the North, we have the multi-volume Mapping the North, surrounded by a wealth of supplementary material.
The first tranche of supplementary material should, I figured, deliver the detail of the natural and human landscape that went down on paper. Some degree of historical background would help as well.
That detail will, eventually, find its way into Origins (the physical and biological landscape), Indigenes (the human landscape) and Antecedents (the historical aspect).
There will inevitably be personal impressions along the way. That can best be categorised as Recollection, Reflection and Reminiscence and given its own subsidiary section of the larger project.
And the rest follows from there. As the author sorts out the detail, a chronology can be built.
