As far as opening acts are concerned I definitely preferred The Drones, who sounded reasonably like you'd expect an act whose front man wears his guitar midway between his crotch and his knees to sound. I won't be racing off to buy a CD or download, but at least they had some sense of dynamics.

Neil's set, when it arrived, followed the same setlist as Brisbane except for Prisoners of Rock & Roll, which segued nicely into Opera Star. No complaints from Hughesy in either department and for further details of the concert itself I’d point the reader in this direction

The Winterlong contingent had, before the opening of the doors, designated the gate near the backstage entrance as the assembly point prior to any post-gig activities, and as the numbers gradually swelled the question on most lips was whether Gary and Dave the T-shirt dude had managed to wangle their way backstage to present the band with T-shirts and badges. As it turned out they had, but that was as far as the luck went. They emerged with tales of backstage encounters and were regaling us with the details as Neil and company made their surreptitious way onto the bus and headed out the other way.

From there a couple of beers seemed like a good idea, and while I tagged along I only lasted long enough for one, recalling that I had the remainder of a bottle of Riesling that needed to be demolished. Apparently the partying continued into the small hours, so it was just as well I left when I did.
