Into the Freycinet

Looking Up.jpgOnce we turned off the highway there was a lengthy delay for road works, with the light that stopped us in the process of changing from amber to red. It was obviously working on a timer and anticipating a reasonably heavy flow of traffic since the section of road wasn't particularly lengthy. It wasn't obvious at the time, but the logic behind the arrangement became obvious when we pulled into the car park at the Visitor Centre and reinforced when we arrived in the car park at the foot of the Wineglass Bay walking track.

We'd passed a couple of interesting looking locations as we made our way along Coles Bay Road, which looked worth investigating for anyone who had a bit more time on their hands, along with quite impressive views back across Great Oyster towards Swansea. One of Hughesy's proof reading jobs when we return to base will involve the Thesaurus since impressive and spectacular seem to be bordering on the overused category.

Looking Back.jpgOnce we landed in the car park we were headed inside, looking to pay our $24 and get back out again, but predictably there were a party of Chinese tourists with an extended multi-park itinerary who needed to fill in forms to obtain the relevant multi-park pass. The difficulties the girl behind the counter was experiencing had me wondering why the forms didn't come with a Languages Other Than English quotient, either with separate but equivalent forms for the most likely languages, or with a single form that had the directions written in a couple of languages.

The spaces where you enter your details wouldn't need to change, just the directions beside the different boxes. Family name, registration number of the car, and such shouldn't be all that difficult to translate and insert.

On the Way to the Top
