You can set out with intentions of minimising disruptions to the lifestyles of those around you, but then you get to differences of opinion as to what constitutes a disruption.

In this case, where I'd have been happy to mosey around downtown Southport and avoid getting in the way the morning saw The nephew running a number of breakfast options past me. Since it seemed he'd be out and about anyway, I gave in to the apparently inevitable and found myself headed off towards Robina in search of brunch.

There were a couple of other options floated, including a return to Ferry Road and something called The Providore over at the Mirage on the other side of The Broadwater, but we ended up heading for Ambarella Fine Foods, which turned out to be more or less equivalent to the Ferry Road operation.

That, in any case, took care of brunch, which came in the form of a breakfast wrap that was just large enough to keep me going until dinner time, and we made our way back to the Unit via Ferry Road, where The nephew ended to pick up some rather nifty silicon place mats! and a bike shop on Marine Parade, where a warranty issue on a piece of equipment needed to be checked out.

The rest of the day, predictably, passed without incident, the way it tends to do when you've got nothing much on the agenda and a pile of reading matter to catch up on.

I continued to work my way through the Leonard Cohen biography, with side excursions for email, Facebook and Twitter, and then, around a quarter to six, started on dinner. It wasn't an exact replica of a restaurant Matriciana, but wasn't a whole lot removed, a concoction of bacon, chilli, garlic, white wine and tomato with a touch of basil and oregano that must have been pretty decent because the whole lot went on the night.

As did the bottle of Killerman's Run, which got a big tick, although an initial encounter with the Monsters! Monsters! Attack! Riesling revealed a drop that was a little more towards the off dry some residual sugar end of the spectrum. Don't know if Il lbe back for more of that one..
