Around the Grounds

The property offers five accommodation options: The Homestead in the main farmhouse, The Cottage, a self-contained building that sleeps up to five, and three separate units in the former barn (The Barn, The Bakehouse and The Stables).

Across the river.jpgHaving been showed the features of the night's accommodation we headed up to the actual homestead, where we received a fairly thorough briefing about the dinner options. It seemed to be a definite case of being in with the MONA crowd, given the range of options we were presented with, and the absolute dearth of references to anything of the common or garden chew and spew eateries.

There was, for example, a tavern down the road, but all of the suggested options were across the bridge.

The most enthusiastically recommended option was The Republic, a pub on the corner of Elizabeth and Burnett Streets in North Hobart, which would tend to add weight to the in with the MONA crowd argument, what with the name and all. It would have been a strong contender if the question of parking hadn't raised its ugly head and if navigation hadn't been an issue.

Off to Dinner
