Marco Vichi

With eleven novels and two collections of short stories published in Italy, Marco Vichi has only just started appearing in English, with the Commissario Bordelli novels translated by Stephen Sartarelli (who also looks after Andrea Camilleri, which is probably a recommendation in itself).

There's not a great deal of other information about the author out there, apart from the fact that he's a tad overt six years younger than Hughesy, was born in Florence and has also produced screenplays, radio material, song lyrics and for radio, and has been involved in humanitarian causes.
