Maybe it was the drive through the wetlands on the way in, or it could have been the welcoming committee (a Jack Russell named Chilli).
Then again it could have been the Warbo relatives (peacocks to the uninitiated).
Whatever the reason, when Madam and I wandered into the Tasting Room at Brook Eden I was ready to be impressed. It was the fifth winery for the day, and all the others had been highly impressive, so that wouldn’t have been an entirely unexpected development.
By the time we walked out half an hour or so later I’d signed up for the Vintage Club and was looking forward to a six-bottle tasting pack in about five months’ time at a substantial discount that more or less negated the cost of freight so we were looking, more or less, at a freight-free situation.
Had I been advised of a similar arrangement at any of the establishments we’d visited earlier in the day, I would, more than likely have signed up for those as well.
As of January 2009 there are two tasting packs per year - one in December/January to cover the early release unwooded wines (Riesling, Pinot Rosé and Water's Edge Pinot) and the second in April/May containing the wooded styles (Chardonnay and Pinot Noir).
