Promoted, headlined and hosted by the Allman Brothers Band, the Wanee Festival has been held since 2005 at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park, in Live Oak, Forida, working at least two stages (Peach Stage and Mushroom Stage) with additional stages added to the mix depending on the number of acts booked.
The aim was to run a festival featuring the band and the members' many side projects, including the Derek Trucks Band, the Tedeschi Trucks Band, Oteil (Burbridge) and the Peacemakers, and Gov't Mule (Warren Haynes). The 2010 line up also included Bob Weir, Rob Wasserman, & Jay Lane are Scaring the Children, Stephen Stills. The Black Keys, Dr. John, Hot Tuna, 7 Walkers featuring Bill Kreutzmann & Papa Mali, JJ Grey and Mofro, Johnny Winter, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, The Funky Meters, The Wailers, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, the North Mississippi Allstars and The Word starring Robert Randolph, North Mississippi All Stars and John Medeski.
Given that lineup you can see why Hughesy was looking forward to an extra serve of Moogis…
