Tahbilk 2007 Marsanne
I may be repeating myself. In fact, I am, but just in case a reader missed a comment hidden away in an effort labelled Three Beauties elsewhere on these pages, here it is again.
Seriously, if you’re after a good value, consistent, quality white with cellaring potential, you should be giving Tahbilk Marsanne a serious look (assuming you haven’t already). The 2007 has the usual rich palate, depth of flavour and balanced acidity. In a word, wonderful.
Out of the Tahbilk range, the Marsanne, being more or less the flagship wine is relatively widely available. Apart from the cellar door and their wine club, it can usually be tracked down through The Wine Society and seems to be permanently in stock at Dan Murphy’s. It may well turn up in other chains and independent bottle shops but the above options are enough to ensure that there are always a couple of bottles of a recent vintage on the premises at the Little House of Concrete.
Depending on where you track it down, expect to find it somewhere in the $10-$15 bracket, not bad for a wine with a Halliday rating of 93.
Oh, and by the way, in terms of cellaring potential, a drink by date (again, according to Halliday) of 2017!
