New South Wales
While the Hunter Valley was the destination for our first wine trip, at that stage I wasn’t writing things down - hence the dearth of detail and the lack of a blow by blow recount of the trip in the Travelogues.
General impressions, however (drawn from very dim memories).
Any return visit will definitely include Tamburlaine, and other highlights included getting to Lakes Folly. Revisiting Capercaillie, De Iulius and Tyrrell’s will definitely on the agenda.
While we arrived on a Sunday afternoon, it’s an area best avoided on weekends (but then so are most winery regions, aren’t they?)
Accommodation at Olive Grove Cottages was ideal, and I’d definitely be back. I’d repeat our last visit policy of a substantial lunch followed by a light barbecued dinner on the cottage verandah in the evening.
Oh, and we’d have done a bit more advance research...
