Restructuring the old website takes us back into territory that, frankly, we'd rather not revisit.
When you look at the big picture, losing The Ashes back in 2005 wasn't the real start of Australia's decline from a firmly entrenched spot at the top of the pecking order, but the slide really started thereafter, with the 2006-7 series as a temporary aberration. That five-nil result might have suggested that things weren't as bad as they seemed, but, really, the grim determination to get the urn back and inflict maximum humiliation along the way was always going to complicate matters further down the track.
While the rebuilding process was underway when Australia headed to England, urn in hand, and promptly handed it back due to an inability to score enough runs batting first and an attack that lacked enough penetration to collect twenty wickets.
Those series took place before I'd entered the blogosphere, but from here on I'm planning on placing The LHoC Sports Desk content that relates to a particular series on its own little subsection.
Here's The Ashes series that either was either the nadir of recent Australian cricket or landed in an adjacent post code.
