a.k.a. Sugar Boy And His Cane Cutters; Big Boy Myles And The Shaw-Wees; L'il Millet & the Creoles; Big Boy Myles And The Sha-Weez
The Sha-Weez were true exponents of the New Orleans sound. They were fine musicians and fine singers, leaving us with some great music (and a name that makes no sense). (Marv Goldberg)
They somehow wound up at Aladdin, where they had one release. Late in 1953 they got an offer from Chess/Checker while still under contract with Aladdin The offer ws to record six sides for the Chess/Checker organisation. Because of this duplicity, they recorded as Sugar Boy and the Cane Cutters. (Mitch Rosalsky Encyclopedia of Rhythm & Blues and Doo-Wop Vocal Groups)
Interesting.
