Google Kamerunga and the first screen of results will reveal a map, indicating a location west of the Cairns suburb of Freshwater, wedged between Redlynch in the south and Caravonica to the north.
You'll also find it's the name of a band, comprising Peter Ella (acoustic and electric guitars, tenor guitar, keyboards, mandolin, violin and backing vocals) and Tony Hillier (rhythm guitar, kazoo and backing vocals), who also play in an Australiana/Acoustic/Blues Family Entertainment outfit called Snake Gully.
They're joined by Andree Baudet (saxophones, keyboards, cello and backing vocals), David Martin (violin, mandolin, lead vocals), Will Kepa (bass, percussion, ukulele and backing vocals) and ex-Steeleye Spanner Nigel Pegrum (drums and percussion) who replaced Ben Hakalitz (ex-Yothu Yindi) for the second album.
It's an outfit that combines a number of prominent figures on the Cairns music scene, recording when everybody's free and there's time available at Pegrum's Pegasus Studios and playing the odd high profile festival gig at the likes of Woodford, Port Fairy, BluesFest in Byron and the National Folk Festival.
