Formed in early 1964,The Haunted became one of Montreal's top-drawing acts and picked up a recording contract in January 1966 by winning an eight-hour battle of the bands .They ran into immediate problems with the label, due tos “inappropriate” lyrical contentin a song about a session with a prostitute. A rerecorded version replaced one of the more risqué verses with new lyrics did well in the regional charts (#2, #23 nationally). A follow-up single charted, but subsequent releases, sold in diminishing quantities. Interesting. File under: Canadian Garage
