On the surface, it's hard not to think of Creole accordion player Amédé Ardoin (11 March 1898 – 3 November 1942) as the Cajun/Creole equivalent of Robert Johnson. A pioneering instrumental virtuoso with a distinctive voice whose death under mysterious circumstances left a limited recorded legacy (in his case, thirty-four recordings). Significant.
