Having read through yesterday's effort, The Astute Reader will, no doubt, be aware of the early part of the Costello Concert Day proceedings, but for those who may have arrived late, let me summarise.
A later than usual rise was followed by a good hour tapping out the previous day's travelogue, and then thoughts turned towards breakfast.
Actually, they turned in a few other directions as well, but those ended up being shuffled over to tomorrow's agenda since they required extra research.
With Wednesday as a scheduled concert day, I wasn't keen on an extensive agenda, and things had been simplified significantly once we were looking at a midday checkout.
We're relocating to the Hilton later in the day, chosen because it's just around the corner from the State Theatre, which is the venue for both concerts. We can't check in there until three, so the game plan that emerged was as follows:
Head along to World Square for breakfast. There's at least one good option in that direction, and we can also scope out the possibilities for a lavish lunch, which will have to do until the following morning for the concert-goer. Pencil in Din Tai Fung as the odds on favourite.
From there, take a while to familiarise ourselves with the downtown Sydney landscape. We'll more than likely be back and looking for places to eat et cetera.
Return to the Travelodge in time to check out, with luggage consigned to the cloakroom. Back to World Square for lunch, probably around one-fifteen. Kill some time along the way.
Post-prandial stroll back to Travelodge, collect luggage and hoof it over to the Hilton, where we probably won't be able to check in, but there are further time killing options in the neighbourhood.
Check in, rest up before the five-thirty rendezvous with Popey, have a couple of beers in the Marble Bar and off to the concert.
Post-concert stalking of Elvis (photo opportunity at the equivalent of the stage door, then upstairs for a glass of Tempranillo Touriga if I need something to settle myself back down after the evening's excitement.
