University of Wisconsin drop-out Peter Stampfel ended up in New York, where he and Steve Weber formed The Holy Modal Rounders and provided the instrumental ingredient for an early version of The Fugs and eventually ended up working as a science fiction editor in Manhattan after spells in Florida, Chicago, and California.
